The Rockhampton Golf Course is located in Central Queenslands’ tropical climate. The course is well designed and maintained, which is perfect for players who are wanting to test their skills against a premier course.
There are 3 long par 5’s on this course, unless the wind is helping substantially most golfers would need 3 shot to hit the dancefloor.
1st hole is 537 metres, 5th is 538, and 16th (index 1, double dogleg right) is 536 metres. The par 5 10th (438 metres) is the only relief, with a good drive it’s possible to hit a mid iron to the green. A mixture of hole lengths on the par 4’s, from 285 metres on 17th, 298 metre 8th (big dogleg & driveable for the big hitters, to the 380 metre 15th (index 2, OB right, into the prevailing breeze!), and the 391 metre 3rd (almost always into the wind).
The par 3’s are a bit friendlier, 2nd is 127 metres, 7th 206 metres, 11th 167 metres, and unusually, the 164 metre par 3 18th to finish.

I have played many courses throughout Australia and when it comes to a challenging enjoyable friendly golf course, you will be hard pressed to beat Rockhampton. I played the course last week and its in impeccable condition. The members are friendly and welcoming, and you need to be playing well to beat your handicap on this course. If you are travelling through Rockhampton and looking for a game, then make sure you stop by Rockhampton. Getting a game in the Saturday comp is easy, and members will make you feel welcome.
