I have played many courses throughout Australia and when it comes to a challenging enjoyable friendly golf course, you will be hard pressed to beat Rockhampton. I played the course last week and its in impeccable condition. The members are friendly and welcoming, and you need to be playing well to beat your handicap on this course. If you are travelling through Rockhampton and looking for a game, then make sure you stop by Rockhampton. Getting a game in the Saturday comp is easy, and members will make you feel welcome.

Rockhampton Golf Club is seriously under-rated. This is a very good course for a very cheap rate. The course is in excellent condition and the layout is challenging. The par 5’s are a feature with some of them being reachable, but only with good course management. The staff are very friendly and the members are also very pleasant.

Used to play Junior Golf at Rockhampton. Absolute pleasure each and every round. Number 5 (Par 5) If I remember correctly, was always a challenge. Land on the second tier of the green, or off to the right, and into the bunker you go!

Not a good idea to play comp. on a course for the first time after four months off!

Especially Rocky which is a bit of a challenge.

The hole difficulties are well covered by other writers so I’ll just say good course, good company (thanks Ron & Don), and good luck!

Liked the greens though.

As per the previous review I agree this is definetly the best course in amd around Rockhampton. Value for money at only $15 mid week or $20 on weekend this is a true championship course with no weak golf holes. Right from the start with 537metres of double dog leg par 5 to the 164 metre par 3 18 th this is an experience which if you have played to your handicap uou have played well. The course is in excellent condition with the greens and fairways in remarkable condition considering we have had negilible rainfall. You will definetly use all the clubs in the bag with the driver facing a stern test from the blues tees however from the white tees it is certainly more manageable, the course is quite long but a good course to walk and enjoy the wildlife

The first hole is a hard way to start off the round. The 537 metre par 5 has water hazards to the right, and is a double dogleg requiring some course management.

I would say that it is a pleasure to play unitl the final four which are the most challenging part of the course.

The fifteenth is a dogleg left, and you are forced to draw the ball back into the usual SE wind, which picks up a bit of speed as it reaches you at this section of the course.

The sixteenth is the courseís signature hole, and perhaps the most testing on the course. At well over 500 metres and into the wind, it is also one of the longest holes you are likely to encounter. The double dogleg around a large water hazard however, means that you cannot just drive the 538m. You should really give a bit of thought to your approach.

The seventeenth tee provides a great view across the lagoon to the Botanic Gardens. Relatively short at 285 metres, the bigger hitters take on the water corner and go for the green. But donít become too friendly with the lagoon, because it is just waiting to swallow your slice as you line up the 17th green.

It is unusual for a course to finish with a par 3, but the 167metre 18th seems like the perfect finish to this course, as you knock one uphill with water on both sides.

Very testing, and other than the resort courses of Cap International, probably the best course in the area.
