Now fully recovered from the drought, the course is green again. As a member, I play here 2 to 3 times a week so I know the course well. As a low handicapper, I know good golf. Classic parkland course with a good mix of holes. Fundamentally, you get good design, a mix of short and long holes, some uphill and downhill, into the wind and with the wind, reachable par 5s if you hit 2 good ones right. The lack of water hazards is made up for with trees. Take my advice and pitch back to the fairway to save your score. The strongest holes I would rate against any tough hole on any course (1,7,10,13,16) and they throw in a few easy holes (4,6,18)to help your scorecard. I find the key is to get through the opening 4 holes without blowing too many strokes, then take advantage of 5 and 6 before facing 7,8 and 10. If you have your game together at the turn, you can go well on the back 9. Just watch the trees! Pretty in autumn, temperate in summer and still playable in winter. I never get tired of this course. Sure, they could do a lot to make the course more difficult, but who’s going to pay for the upkeep?

unusual and uninteresting layout, would be the second best mountain course behind Blackheath

This course is a gem! It is easily the best course in the Blue Mountains and is always well presented. There are a number of holes where your line off the tee is critical, such as the 1st, 3rd, 10th 12th and 16th. The 17th is a memorable dog leg left par 5, which poses a fantastic challenge to 80% of golfers with a natural fade. If you’re loking for a weekend away from Sydney and a game of golf, then head to the Blue Mountains and play this course.

Overall the course wasn’t in too bad condition. The greens were quite fast, although the fariways were very patchy in sections. Found the staff to be a little unprofessional. We had 6 players and were forced to play in 2 groups, even though only a hadful of other players were on the course. Whilst not normally allowed, a little bit of common sense would have been appreciated. Green staff were also a little rude, and would not stop their mowers when we were putting out or teeing off nearby. Despite this however, still maybe worth a look if your in the area.

I found this course to be OK, The fairways are suffering with the drought and are a bit patchy in areas but the greens are holding up well. The staff at the club are a little wierd… Make sure you order a sausage roll when you book your game.

Like most Mountains courses, Wenty Falls isn’t a long course, but it makes you think your way around.

There’s plenty of doglegs here, none better than the first – a par 4 with a tight driving area that has trees left and a hazard to the right. The green slopes heavily to the left, and a bunker waits to the right of the green. Every shot must be thought about on this hole, which sets the tone for the rest of the round.

Some new greens that were built about three years ago have begun to mesh with the rest of the course, so your ball should be rolling the same on all greens.

The par 3s are mostly lengthy affairs, and as another reviewer said, the 11th is a highlight. A long iron to a green surrounded by a sea of sand. A par there is satisfying.

I particularly enjoy playing the far 5s on this course (the 2nd, 14th and 17th). They each offer a challenge, but will still give up a birdie to the golfer who plays them the right way.

The best holes, in my view:

1st – for reasons described above.

7th – par 4 with a blind tee shot, a creek crossing the fairway at about 250m and a tough, sloping green.

10th – Par four straigh up the hill to a sloped green that is raised heavily from the fairway. It’s only a driver/short iron hole, but it will challenge all golfers.

11th – described above.

17th – dogleg left par 5, with water and thick bushland in the equation, the green is guarded by lush mounds and OOB behind.

The battle for best in the Mountains is between Wenty Falls and Leura. On their day they’re as good as each other in my opinion.

The fog is the only real issue, when it rolls in, playing golf can be far from enjoyable.

Holidaying in the area and played in the Thurday Competition. Friendly membership.

An established course overlooked by a clubhouse built before its time. Many facilities.

A great layout, but be warned, there are a couple of hills that will test the unfit!!

No getting bored with this course.

This course is fantastic, so good i became a member.

Greens and fairways are kept very well. I found that the fairways are mown quite regularly. Now that we have had some rain up in the mountains, it is nice and greeeeen.

Favourite hole would have to be the 11th. Par 3 drops down onto a very open green.

Well worth the hit. Talk to Dale the new Pro, he is definately in touch with the course

FANTASTIC !

This course is definately one of the best traditional country courses I have played.

Most holes are quite classical in design and and are fairly typical of 1920/30's golf architecture. There really aren't any bad holes on the course.

Of particular interest was the par 5 17th.

My only complaint would be the one normally associated with smaller country courses - they don't like cutting the greens or fairways.

Nevertheless, I was very impressed.

I holiday in the Blue Mountains regularly and have played all of its courses. I am in no doubt that Wentworth Falls presents the best golfing challenge in the mountains. It is a superior design to any other course and is spread over 3 paddocks. Greens are always in good condition and the best holes are the 1st, 7th, 11th, 13th, 16th and 17th. I am a member of a well known private course in the Sydney metro area and, for a country course with less resources, the golfing experience at Wentworth Falls compares favourably with my home course. If you can only play one course in the mountains then this is it.

Played at Wentworth Falls last Sunday and found the course to be in fair condition . No water in many of the water hazards and firm ground due to no recent rainfalls really is a shame as this course really is a challenge when conditions are right . The greens were in great condition, fast and true ! Well worth playing this course, long hitters can be rewarded and poor shots penalised !

This course is feeling the effects of the drought at the moment however the greens are in excellent condition.

The layout provides a good test of golf with some testing par 4's and some short but interesting par 5's. The par 3's are not overly long but depending on the direction and wind strength all holes can be quite difficult.

The par 4 1st requires an accurate tee shot to a dog-leg fairway. The par 4 8th is a great hole with a tee shot to an uphill fairway and a long iron into a green that appears further than what it is.

The par 3 11th plays from an elevated tee and is a test in judgement as the green is wide but narrow from left to right and is guarded by bunkers.

The par 4 13th is also a good hole with a tight left dogleg requiring a well placed tee shot to an uphill fairway.

The par 5 17th is also a good hole with another left turning dogleg that is defended by large trees.

All in all it is worth a visit.
