Played there this week. Found the course not up to the standard of my usual haunts but still an ok course. Very challenging layout but could use some maintenance. One fairway looked like the rough. If you hit off course into the trees forget tryin to find it and take the drop and if you do decide to look for your ball watch out for the red belly black snakes, they’re crawling around everywhere.

played 11/10/2008 1st time very good layout with obvious potential back 9 fairways have more grass front 9 a touch bare greens had been cored 1 week before,were slow but true (another week would rate good),bunkers good maybe some water on front9 could be replaced with fairway bunkers.with an injection of money would become a very good course Well worth playing

Excellent layout, even if a dodgy Par 3 to start. As per other reviewers, could do with more work on the fairways but I think the greens are fabulous. There are some superb holes here on the back nine with the 11th, 15th and 17th standouts on any top flight course. Sadly, GreenHill is now in receivership and I do not expect things to get better, a lot of many was spent assuming a residential zoning that never happened. Get in quick before it dies, Tues/Thurs are cheap days with none of the pretentiousness of Kooindah.

I played this course on Saturday..

I really enjoyed the course, I wasn’t expecting much but was surprised how good the lay out is and found all holes interesting. The condition of the greens were good and the fairways ok. If someone invested some time and serious money into the course it would be sensational and compete well with Kooindah and Magenta Shores..

I played here about 3 times, 1 in comp and the other 2 social. This course is an EXCELLENT design and has good length, good views and nice layout. The problems are the fairways, which are dirt and bindies, which does give you a lot of roll (up to 100m), and the bunkers are almost always out of play, or aren’t playable when they are in play. The greens are never cut to the right length, and are always soft, slow and bumpy. If this course could afford some better machinery and more groundstaff, would be a 5 star, and better than some resort courses (Kooindah, Magenta).

played on the 19/02/08 not a bad course a bit wet under foot but what course is not along the east coast just now .They have a crazy days on tuesday and thrusday at this time $30 for 18 holes with cart .Will go back later in the year for another game for sure.

Wow – I can’t believe I had never heard of this course before I played on 19.01.08. Green Hill, despite its humble facilities and location, is one of the best layouts I have EVER played. The greens were in 5-star condition, and if the fairways were in better nick, this course would make Kooindah Waters look average. Golfers across northern Sydney and the Central Coast should be flocking here to support the club and allow it to improve and achieve its full potential. If it wasn’t for the fairways on thr front nine this would get 5 stars. Play here as soon as you can!

I PLAYED THERE ON 15.1.08 THE GREENS ARE THE BEST ON THE COAST. Awesome course, previous reviewers commented on lack of grass on fairways, but after recent rains the course in looking good! few patches of bare stuff, but in general good enough to keep you on your game. Great scenery is avilable with an array of elevated tees, rolling fairways and consistent greens. Will be an absolute pearler in a few years when the niggles of a new course have been ironed out. Will be taking a bigger group back in a few weeks to show off this hidden gem!!!

this is the best course i have ever played ive had 2 hole in ones on this layout this year my first was on the 16th 176m nice easy 5 wood on the 15/4/07 my second was on the much shorter 7th 100m pw 1 bounce and in on the 25/9/07 no matter what condition this course is in it will always be my favourite.

Played this last weekend as part of a social club.

Course could do with some general care and a lot of water. Greens were in good nick, but fairways have started to brown off, and in some places are hard and dusty.

With a few $ spent on this course, it could be top notch, alas, each time we come back we notice it goes down hill a little bit more.

This course has a lot of potential. I’ve played here a number over times over the past few years, and unfortunately it hasn’t quite fulfilled that potential, possibly due to a number of changes in ownership.

Challenging layout with what seems like endless water hazards at times. The greens are undulating and were quite quick at the last time of playing, however the fairways leave a lot to be desired, consisting mainly of bindies and dirt.

Playing from the members’ adds quite a bit of distance to the social tees. The width of the fairways is generally generous, however there are a couple of tight holes bordered by bush (infested by ticks as one of my playing partners discovered).

At about $35 it’s easy to get a round and probably worth checking out, but don’t get your hopes up too high.

I love this course. Its bigger than Texas, the views and feeling of expansiveness are superb. Each hole is a visual feast and the layout demands thinking and varied shotmaking. There a heaps of water hazards that add to the complexity. However I don’t like the thinness of the fairway grass, it is couch with a lot of bindi and the ball does run insanely in the dry months. It also looks like it burns off in the extreme frosts that you get up there. I’d like to know what the super is doing re the fairways. Do pros like bare lies to pinch their irons off? When I go back down the mountain to the Everglades the fairways feel so easy to chip off. All up though it is a treat to play, one of my favourites, its the vibe.

Played here a couple of weeks ago in an Ambrose day and I concur with a number of other reviewers that the course has potential. Unfortunately I have to also concur with the poor conditioning and ridiculous overuse of water hazards. Add to those critisisms bunkers that looked like they were added as an afterthought, the up and back nature of too many of the holes and some ridiculous par 3’s.

You can see that there are a number of well designed holes as you play around the course, and I personally kept wondering how good this course could be. Unfortunately I was always dragged back to reality by ending up on another tight lie on a fairway or rolling-on into yet another dam. And to really top off the day, a bloody crow nicked my ball after possibly my best drive of the day!

Off the blue markers the course plays 6202m; the whites 5723m and 4857m for the ladies. Par 72 in each case with the standard four par 3’s , 10 par 4’s and four par 5’s layout.

If you’re going to the Central Coast to play golf then there are plenty of better courses than this one, at this stage. Check out Tuggerah Lakes, Gosford or the new Kooindah Waters.

A group of us played here for the 3rd time and possibly the lasttime. This could be a great course the setup is great however there is no grass on the fairways. You can hit a great drive see it hit the centre of the fairway and then roll into either the rough(and I mean rough, rocks and all) or into water.

Played here after some rain which made the back nine a bit sloppy but otherwise a great course to play as it was easy to get on rather than every other course in Sydney is booked out for members on weekends when the general public have there only chance to play. Some holes could be better but when it’s cheap you don’t expect much and it is better than what you expect.

The course was in OK shape, not great, but better than expected and good enough to have a decent game. Preferred lies still the case through the green. Did need to make use of that local rule on a few occasions. Greens could be faster. Bunkers were terrible. Tee boxes needs some work. Cart paths in some areas were very bad and obviously neglected.

We found the layout challenging enough. Lots of water in play, requiring accurate shot making and good judge of distance.

Great facilities at the small club house. Just need more work on the course itself. Having said that, it's good value and worth the trip. Not much traffic on the course which was great. I wouldn't mind playing there again.

There's nothing quite like playing on a proper full length course for $35.

Apart from my general dislike for excessive water traps I think the course is looking good. I suppose they need the water up there to keep the course looking green.

The greens were really slow, although I'm guessing they were doing maintenance for the summer because I recall they were a lot faster the last time I was up there. And the fairways still have a fair bit of work to do.

But, overall a great place for a weekend hit and can only get better.

I have played there 4 times now. At the start of the year the course was in terrible shape. The super looks like he had no idea. The the greens and fairways was rough, But since the new super has come in the last 2 months the fairways were very good. The greens was good and true at a great pace.

Its good to see the workers have a chat with you and ask how the course is playing. All credit to the super and the workers.

Well its cheap to play, but very interesting and fun.

I would recommend trying this course, you could certainly do worse!

Ps.. the chopper has NO IDEA!!!!!!

Played there last week for the second time. The rough was rough but the fairways were very good. One green wasl being repaired but the rest were good, true, undulating and very fast.

The dry weather led to a lot of run which meant that even on a 400m par 4 driver might not be the preferred option off the tee!

Cheap to play, demanding, interesting and fun. Who could ask for more?

I would recommend trying this course, you could certainly do worse!

Played there last week, for the first time, and found the course to be in terrible condition.

It was preffered lies thru the green and boy did you need it.

The back nine, which is new, is a good layout but fairways where all patchy and dry. The rough was full of rock where if you played a shot out of it there was a real danger of either hurting your club or wrists.

The greens were OK but nothing great

It may improve in 6 months. Check here for comments before you go there because you will be very dissapointed if it has not improved.

Whilst I must admit that the reviews I had read certainly made me approach this course with some trepidation, I was pleasently suprised at both the look and feel of the course.

Far from finding some of my best drives in water somewhere in the middle of a fairway as I had read, I found that if you landed on a fairway you were always sitting pretty for a second shot into the green (well ok maybe a 3rd shot wedge on a couple of holes) and... it may be only me but if your spraying them left or right on what I feel are generous width fairways then buy yourself a ball scoop and a few lessons.

This course is what golf is all about, there are no free holes and you must think every shot through. Percentage golf is definately the way to go however for a pure adrenalin rush go for the water carry on the 5th, 11th (with a fade) and 17th the rewards are great.

All in all I came away very impressed and although only a very young course I believe it already to be among the best on the Central coast.

Whist I enjoy playing tight courses with hazards there are way too many at Springs. If you're even slightly off your aim then you're straight into "lost ball" territory. Hazard after hazard, hole after hole.

The fairways were the worst I have ever played on. Dead and brown. Hard as concrete.

Greens were just green due to the greenkeepers watering as the comp played around. Made the greens really difficult to read becuase some had been watered and some hadn't. Played havoc with putting. Impossible toplay consistently.

If the weather is to be over about 30 degrees or humid, forget this course. No trees (or man-made shade) anywhere near the tee areas or around the greens makes for a very uncomfortable hot day. Course is very exposed to the elements especially the sun and the westerly winds.

Local "social" players seemed quite friendly but the comp players were anything but friendly.

Pro shop staff were friendly and efficient but the shop seemed poorly stocked, compared with other city & country courses I've been to recently.

It'll be a great course in about 10 years when the fairways have matured (not to mention being re-sown with species that handle drought) and grown along with the trees that need to be planted.

Cheap by Sydney standards but you get what you pay for. I won't go back anytime soon.

Recently play this course and was pleasantly surprised.

There are some pretty reasonable holes on the course, in particular the 11th and 17th (both very good par fours). Problem is, whoever designed the place got way too carried away with the concept of the water hasard. There's hardly a hole on the course without some ridiculous little pond.

We played it off the back markers all day (certainly a plus that there are no little Hitler's trying to send you off to the to the ignomity of the social tees) and while the course is 6200 metres, it didn't feel very long due to the considerable run provided by the fairways.

The course was in pretty reasonable knick for a young course and should improve over time. In fact, they have done very well to construct a course in such an golf unfriendly environment.

For those wishing to escape the Sydney crowds and have a decent hit, you could do a lot worse than the Springs, just don't be surprised if your best drive winds up some little pond not visible from the tee.

Played here today with a few friends. Overall layout of the course was excellent, although some of the holes had hidden water traps. Hit a couple of good drives only to come over the rise and realise I had hit a pond!

A second round could alleviate these problems.

Fairways could be in better condition but was mostly good. Not too many bad lies.

I would highly recommend taking time to admire the Par 3 10th. From the tee it's a pretty hole.

Played here on the weekend and had a great time.. The course was a bit dry due to the drought but the tees and greens were in fanastic shape. It was my first ever round here and I was surprised at the challenging layout and the number of water hazards. The course is quite a long course at over 6000m and was layed out so that you couldn't hit driver on every hole. We played off the blue tees and found the course to be of a high standard. The only downside to the course would have had to have been the non existance of a club house. But this would have to be expected of such a new course.

Highly recommended course which has very reasonable green fees and social tee times available during the weekends.

Played there today - cost an unbelievable $22.50 for 18 holes on Monday (if you are a member at another course). Course in good condition - fairways a little dry and hard. Long enough, pretty setting. Lots of hazards especially water, bunkers only on new (second nine). Thirty minutes from Hornsby.

This course is a pleasure to play, postcard views from most tee's and still a little undiscovered as its fairly easy to get a sunday booking.

Ive played it twice since all 18 holes opened and will play again. A challenging but fun course in immaculate condition. The right amount of water and well placed hazards coupled with largish and quick greens. The length is quite acceptable however the walk around the back nine will challenge those who arent that fit as its built on much steeper terrain than the front 9.

Dont expect to pick up a new puter or a pair of shoes from the pro shop...at the moment it only sells balls, tees, gloves, meat pies and drinks...although im told its in the process of expanding.

Price is very reasonable for a course of this standard...from memory it was about $36 for 18 holes and a drink.

Played this a year or so back when only 11 holes were built, and the layout of the course is very promising. The other 7 holes are now finished and will be available for play on a permanent basis in mid-March, or so i'm told.

While similar in landscape to Mangove Mountain GC, Springs GC is layed out like a resort course, with well-manicured fairways and large consistent greens, while maintaining dangers in the many hazards, both natural and man-made.

Apparently the new 7 holes are even better, so with sufficient long-term funding this course will become the Central Coast's premier golf course.
