Great little course. Fully watered with an upgrade of the watering system in progress. The course has suffered badly in recent years due to a lack of water but at present it is in excellent condition. Not in the least easy. THe first 5 holes (4 par 4s and 1 par three) have a boundary fence on the right. Greens are small and relatively flat. THe hole rated #1 is the 14th, a par 4 with the Billabong creek running along the first 2/3 of the fairway ready to snare any wayward drives. The 16th hole “THe Naggas” is a short par 3 with no fairway. The men are required to hit their tee shot (9i – SW)over a number of 15 metre high redgums. The ladies hit across a gully and open fairway to the green. If your travelling through the area and have the time. Call in and play a round. THe course is always available. Saturdays and Sundays join the comp at 12:00 noon.

PROS

  • Cheap, always available, friendly staff and members.

Cons

  • Distance from Melbourne (320km).

While this course is DRY it still gives the average hacker a chance of a good score.

The secret on the first hole along the road is to stay inside the ropes so to speak. It’s easy to lob a ball from the first tee across the Newell into the garage. I know because I’ve done it!Left handers power draw. That said the course is easy walking with a few small undulations. Greens are small & fairly slow.Watch out for one of the best par 3s around. The 16th. A short 100 meters over the gums to a sloping green. The ladies get it easy with a straight shot from a different tee.

The 15th is an easy 6-7 iron off the tee to place yourself for a wedge or 9 iron to the green.Or. if you are in form try belting a 3 wood across the water. I’ve seen it done. Tried myself but got wet balls.

There is accomodation next to the coursemotel & caravan park.Poker machines in the clubhouse, chinese meals available.Good spot for a group to have a weekend away. The natives are friendly.
