Located about 6km south of town, Inverell GC measures 5863m Par 70 with 10 Par 4s ranging from 275-420m, 5 Par 3s ranging from 155-215m and 3 Par 5s ranging from 470-545m. Course is in poor condition with patchy bent grass greens with more dead cover than green cover, thin, brown fairways, but the teebeds are probably the best part of the course. Guy in the proshop reckons that the greens are looking better than before ñ hate to see what it looked like before, if it plays slow and bumpy now.
Not many challenges out there, with wide fairways and a few bunkers protecting most greens. The front nine is hilly and shorter than the back nine. No water hazards on the front nine, and the 6th hole crossing the 1st fairway. A strange layout. The back nine crosses the road via tunnel and is somewhat more challenging with water hazards (although dry, still needs some thought to put ball to green). It is much longer and flatter than the front nine, with doglegs and some lay-up options on the 14th and 16th.
Played here 12/4/06 and paid $22 visitor/social green fees 7 days for 18 holes, and $20 for electric cart. 1.5 stars
