The course is a composite of 9 old holes and 9 new ones. Like most Murray courses, the old 9 has a fair bit of charm and character. It's not long and quite tight, with a few plain holes interspersed among some really excellent ones, particularly some of the longer par 4s. The new 9 is absolutely monstrous in length, and unfortunately a bit of a design tragedy. It is set in a huge parcel of land (bigger than the original 18 holes) and yet with all that room to play with, the 3rd ended up as a horrible 90 degree dogleg which requires you to negotiate an array of poles and wires contributing to the local electricity supply. The 1st, 4th, 8th and 9th are nice holes, but the rest are straight up and down and downright boring.

Contrasting nines, the front is relatively new, with a parkland set-up and some good length to a few of the holes. The second is quite tough - a sharp left dogleg with limited ability to cut the corner - yet by hitting to the corner you leave yourself a long second.

The best holes on the nine are last two. The eighth is a long par five with a sweeping right dogleg; water is in play on the second shot for those who want to cut the corner. Quite an attractive hole is a bit flat. The ninth is good fun for the longer hitters, with a narrow opening before the green beckoning a big drive between them to set up a short pitch. If you're not straight, though, the trees framing the green are very high and hard to counter.

The back nine is on the river flat, shorter but tighter, and overall is a very pleasant setting on a warm day. Straight hitting is essential to score well.
